Youth Health & Wellness Group

Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Service Society started the Youth Health & Wellness Program in 2017, based on the work of our family support workers. These workers were previously using gym workouts as a way to connect with young clients and help them learn about healthy choices and lifestyles. Based on success with these clients, the decision was made to create the Youth Health & Wellness Program. This program is designed to help young people learn about their own well-being and connect to cultural teachings by integrating its unique features into the existing framework of cultural, holistic and health programs that KKCFSS as an agency had been cultivating since its creation. Youth Health & Wellness combines physical fitness, nutrition training, youth leadership training and SMART goal setting, with traditional cultural activities and teachings. The program currently offered to youth aged 13 to 17.
